Name the major character(s). Name the minor character(s). In what ways do the minor character(s) affect the main character(s)?
What decision(s) has a character made that you totally disagree with. Tell why you disagree with it.
How does this story change your thinking?
The major characters are:
Liesel Meminger (Book Thief)
Hans Hubermann (Foster father)
Rosa Hubermann (Foster mother)
Rudy Steiner (Liesel's friend) The minor characters are:
Werner (Liesel's brother)
Liesels real mother
Frau Heinrich (Foster care lady)
The minor characters affect the main characters dramatically. When Werner dies, it brings sadness to Liesel and she has nightmares about it every night because of that. And because of the nightmares, Liesel becomes closer to her foster father Hans. Also, Liesel's mother made the hard decision to let go of her daughter because she can not take care of her. If she hadn't have done that, Liesel would never have had foster parents.
2. No one has made a decision that I have disagreed with yet. I do agree with Liesel's mother when she gave her away to foster parents. That was a smart move because if she didn't do that Liesel might have died because she could not take care of her. That is the main decision I agree with. My heart says that it may not be right, but logic entails and says that without that decision Liesel would have probably died.
3. This story changes my thinking to think about the people of Germany as well as the Jews. Normally, when someone says WWII you would think of the Jews and Hitler, now when someone says WWII, I also think of the people of Germany. I think of what they must have gone through too.
Some good insights, Douglas. I especially like your reasons as to how the minor characters play an important role in the story. Always proof before posting! You would find errors in punctuation, commas, etc., yourself.
